Research: Giza Pyramid Thoughts

Giza Pyramid Thoughts
Over the years I have written several articles about the pyramids of Giza in Egypt, and I’m sure my thoughts have not always agreed with many of the well known Egyptologists who may have read them. However, my 33 year career in doing civil engineering work, involving quality control and quality assurance inspection of materials used to build highways and massive bridge structures in Texas, has always created some doubt for me about how we have been lead to believe the 3 pyramids of Giza and Sphinx were built.
I have a problem accepting the information we have been given about how they were built, such as the number of people involved; the time frame; the use of copper tools; and simply the massive size of some of the stones required, ranging in size from 2 to 70 tons each. These were supposedly transported up the Nile River, across the Giza plateau and set as high as 450 feet on the top of the Great Pyramid.
I will acknowledge that I do believe all the other pyramids in Egypt, other than the three on the Giza Plateau, were more than likely built by Egyptians. But if one is honest, there is no comparing those others with the three pyramids of Giza for size, technology, and engineering capabilities. That, of course, presents the question of who built those 3 pyramids and the Sphinx.
Another question I would raise is what happened to the technological knowledge that was used to build these architectural wonders? This knowledge was not only used in the construction of the three pyramids at Giza, but seemingly similar technological knowledge was used by the Mayans and Incas to build their structures. Apparently that technology disappeared for some reason, like the dinosaurs did. However, the pyramids and other ancient structures still exist today.
Over the years, we have been led to believe that the Great Pyramid of Giza was built for the Pharaoh Kufu around 2400 BC. When burying pharaohs, their tombs were always cluttered with artifacts for their journey to the afterlife, as discovered in King Tut’s tomb and others that have been discovered over the years. Yet Egyptologists have not been able to explain why when the Arabs first entered the Great Pyramid in 890 AD, things for the Pharaoh Kufu’s “afterlife” were never discovered.
I fully understand that tourism in Egypt may well be their largest industry, and it would not be wise for them to admit that the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx were not constructed by Egyptians. Based on many years of research, there remains doubt as to who built those structures, and more importantly during that time period, how they were built. Hopefully, someday the answers will be forthcoming, but for now, several of us have to question what we are continually told.
I can’t imagine the weight of the Great Pyramids of Giza bearing down on the earth, or the fact that they are still there after all these years. As a matter of record, the pyramids are the only remaining structures of the original 7 Ancient Wonders of the World. That alone to me is amazing, but when one assumes that they may be even older than we’ve been told, it becomes more amazing. Anyone with knowledge of civil engineering or construction of massive structures, has to appreciate what went in to building the pyramids, and wonder how it was done. How were some of those stones quarried and shaped? Because with many of the stones that make up the structures, a piece of paper won’t fit between them.
When one looks at the size of the pyramids, the accuracy of the length of each side at the base is remarkable. I’m not sure that type of accuracy could be achieved today in construction.
I have respected the work of Graham Hancock for years pertaining to the pyramids, and in a recent article he commented that, “the Great Pyramid and other megaliths are thousands of years older than we currently believe.” He also stated, “Whoever the pyramids’ builders were, they had a deep knowledge of astronomy.” Based on calculations done, the perimeter of the base of the Great Pyramid multiplied by 43,200 gives you the equatorial circumference of the Earth. 43,200 is a multiple of 72, which happens to be the time it takes for the earth to complete one degree of processional wobble (72 years.) Apparently the builders of the pyramid not only knew about the size of the planet, but also how it moves through space. This took place before modern man knew the earth was round. Then there is the alignment of the three Great Pyramids of Giza, which precisely align as do the 3 stars in Orion’s belt in the Orion constellation. Coincidence? Not likely.
In an another article, John Anthony West presented compelling evidence that dates the Sphinx as far back as 10,000 to 15,000 BC. That predates the Egyptian civilization. In previous articles I have mentioned, the deterioration on the back of the Sphinx was mostly caused by heavy rainfall. According to Mr. West, that could have only occurred after the Sphinx was carved. The last recorded heavy rainfall in Egypt occurred between 7000 and 5000 BC.
It’s reassuring to me as a novice pyramid researcher, to occasionally read articles by such well known researchers as Graham Hancock and John Anthony West, promoting what I have thought for many years. The Egyptians were good at keeping records, but unfortunately at this point in history, there are no known records of how the pyramids or Sphinx were built, or more importantly, who built them. I suppose that’s what makes doing any research so rewarding.
The pyramids exist without any of us knowing how they got there. With UFOs, they also exist, but we’re not told the truth about them so we continue to ask questions about both-- not for our benefit, but for the generations that will follow us. Hopefully, they will continue to ask questions. We need answers.
